Last week we had cricket Manawatu come in a show us some awesome cricket skills.   Each student got a turn to bat and field.  Thank you for the goodie bags too!

We have been using this box in our room all year to play in and go on adventures. Today we came up with a plan on how to paint it with a space theme. It looks fantastic! We talked about what things we wanted on it and who would paint which part.

What skills are we practicing in our play choices?

Emma used ice block sticks and straws to make a boat. She practiced cutting and sticking and said that she had a bit of trouble getting the mast to stay up straight so she had to think of different ways to make it stay up.

                 What's happening in our morning activities today?

Harmony and Jonte are using their knowledge of the solar system to paint the planets.

Collage was tricky! There were only two brushes. So Rita decided that it would be a good idea if everybody glued 5 bits of paper on then gave the brush to another person.

The boys are making a supermarket delivery system. Elijah and Deyontae have loaded up their train at Pak n Save . I like the way you are creating the story together.

                      In Room 5 we practice cooperation, compromise and problem solving as we play.

Dance Term 1:  We are learning to keep in time with the music, with each other and remember the dance moves.  We had lots of fun dancing together.  Ms Donald

Our Inquiry learning in term 2 is all about space and using the Inquiry process to find answers to our wonderings or questions we have. Come in to our classroom and see our cool rocket names, our astronauts and our space books.

We have started writing about space and pretending we are astronauts going to another planet. Look at our brainstorm of cool space words.

                     Working together.
We have worked hard all term thinking about what working together looks like in Room 5. Come and see our photos on our class walls. This week we made a "Y" chart showing what working together looks like, sounds like and feels like in Room 5.

Hula Hoop Creative Dance

We explored a variety of movements both frozen and with movement using a prop (hula hoop)

In the beginning we made frozen shapes using our bodies in a variety of different ways and levels.  Then we experimented with movement in and around our hula hoop, creating different ways to travel through, around or over it. Finally we combined both frozen images and movement together to create a partner dance.

Look at all the fun we had working together and creating our dances.

We are very excited! We are camping next Monday night at school in tents. Only 3 sleeps to go!
